In July of 1996, Disney Vacation Club introduced its next property, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas. Built to pay homage to the waterfront resorts of the 1930s in Atlantic City, BoardWalk Villas delight guests with all that it has to offer including dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a timeshare program that allows members to purchase a set allotment of vacation points. These can be used towards a stay at a Walt Disney World or Disneyland resort at any time during the calendar year. Points are also redeemable for select locations both in and outside of the United States including New York, Hawaii, and more.
The BoardWalk Villas are one of the more unique DVC Resorts on property. Adjacent to Crescent Lake, the Villas are nestled right on Disney’s BoardWalk where guests will hum to the beat of ragtime tunes, stroll through picturesque gardens, and try a turn at classic carnival games. Several dining options are available with fine fare such as fresh seafood, Italian specialities, and scrumptious desserts. Nearby, adults can dance the night away at Atlantic Dance Hall which grooves to the beats of the 80s, 90s, and today starting at sundown. There’s also a dueling piano bar, Jellyrolls, which offers another great entertainment option.
TIP: Bike rentals, including 2-, 4-, or 6-person surrey bikes, are available at the Villas. This makes for a fun afternoon break away from the theme parks.
One of the primary perks of staying at the BoardWalk Villas is its location. Along with the BoardWalk complex itself, the Villas are also located in the EPCOT resort area. Guests can walk to both this park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Such a perk is invaluable during special events such as Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival or Flower & Garden Festival. Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club resorts are a few minutes away by foot as well as the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin hotels. The short proximity offers even more options for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Directly across from the BoardWalk Inn, a companion resort for the area, the Villas boast some 400 units that may be reserved by Disney Vacation Club Members or non-member guests. Both Resort hotels share a common lobby that is well themed. Overstuffed chairs, sofas, and pillows provide a comfortable place to escape the Florida sun or enjoy the peace of the early morning hours. Replicas of a carousel and old-time wooden roller coaster are fun to look at. There are also unique photographs and paintings as well as knick knacks throughout.
Inside the lobby, guests will find impressive vintage furnishings, hardwood floors and
models of a carousel and roller coaster. Just stay away from the creepy chairs by the fireplace! The deck outside the main lobby is a wonderful place to relax and take in the view.
To get a true feeling for the Boardwalk Inn, one must experience it at night. The BoardWalk itself features bright lights and the pounding music of nightclubs. Midway games are also set up for amusement as well as the wacky entertainment of buskers. The line-up of restaurants, a sweet shop and a bakery entice with their pleasant aromas wafting in the air as you walk past. The villas portion of the resort is attached to the main resort area. In contrast with many of the other “home away from home” resorts, there are no notable common areas that are designated as exclusively for the villas.
The Villas’ rooms are divided into four categories; studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, and three-bedrooms. Each accommodates between four to 12 guests based on the selected category. Playful and bright colors capture the essence of the resort. Fun is the theme as you find gingham-patterned tiles and an eclectic combination of florals and stripes in the linens and upholstery. Dotted with accents of packing trunks and teacups, whimsy is found in even the small details. All rooms feature spacious accommodations including armoires, dining tables and chairs, and private patios or balconies.

AbracadaBAR: The AbracadaBar lounge is a “curious cocktail lounge” with a “Golden Age of Magic” theme. The storyline goes that “the lounge was once a secret stomping ground for famous touring magicians, local boardwalk illusionists and the loveliest magician’s assistants of the day. After every magic show, these prestidigitators would gather at the bar, where they’d conjure up new cocktails, swap magic tips and tricks, and often stay up all night attempting to “out-charm” each other with their extraordinary illusions.”
On one of these evenings, one of the magicians disappeared and was never seen again. The lounge then sat empty for 70 years, until now, when it is back in the spotlight again.
