Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Overview

Disney’s Polynesian Village is one of two original hotels that opened with the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971 (the other was Disney’s Contemporary Resort). While the resort has certainly seen changes and expansion since then, its tropical theme and South Pacific flair have proven their timeless appeal – making this one of the most popular resorts at Walt Disney World for more than 40 years. Learn more about the history of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Themed to reflect the style and culture of the South Pacific, the resort is divided into several ‘longhouses’ as well as the Great Ceremonial House, which serves as the resort's main reception area. With a 3-story high atrium, a rich tropical color palette and a warm sense of hospitality, the Great Ceremonial House introduces guests to the Polynesian adventure that awaits them.  The theming continues throughout the grounds of the resort with white sand beaches, torch-lit walkways, lush landscaping, and waterfalls throughout. The resort's position on the shores of the Seven Seas lagoon gives it a prime location from which to view the nightly fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, as well as the Electrical Water Pageant.

Polynesian Village Resort Rooms

When dealing with 'themed' resorts, one measurement of success can be how well it carries its overall theme into its rooms. The rooms at the Polynesian have recently been redone and have a Moana theme. You can spot some of the characters from the film around the space.

Bora Bora Bungalows

The Bora Bora Bungalows at Disney's Poloynesian Village Resort were derived fromt the over-water bungalows that can be found on the south pacific island of Bora Bora. There are 20 of the 1650 sq. ft. bungalows, each with two full bathrooms, a kitchen, in-unit laundry facilities, a living room and dining room. Reminiscent of the South Pacific, the area is surrounded by the Seven Seas Lagoon and will have a view of the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks. Private decks with personal plunge pools allow guests to watch the fireworks while listening to the accompanying music piped in on individual sound systems. The Electric Water Pageant can also be viewed from the bungalows.

Take a look around in the 3D tour below!

All of the DVC units, including the Bora Bora Bungalows, are available to rent when they have not been reserved by Disney Vacation Club Members.

If you'd like to experience staying in a DVC studio or bungalow at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, there are a few options available:
  • You can reserve these rooms through Disney (or Dreams Unlimited Travel ) much the same way you would book a hotel room. This is the most expensive option, and currently you can expect the deluxe studios to go for upwards of $500 per night, and the bungalows for more than $2500 per night.
  • On our discussion forums, DISboards.com, you’ll find the DVC Rent/Trade forum. Current DVC owners who want to rent their points post what they have available, and you can arrange to rent those points directly from them. They will make the reservation with DVC on your behalf and provide you a confirmation number once they receive payment. This is almost always less expensive than going directly through Disney. Please be sure to THOROUGHLY READ the FAQ before using the Rent/Trade forum.
  • You can also go through DVC Resale Market. DVC Resale Market will handle all the work coordinating owners and renters and guarantees the transactions. This is a slightly more expensive option than our Rent/Trade board, but you have someone handling all the transaction details for you.
