When Walt Disney World was looking for an architect to design the Yacht Club, they found the perfect candidate in noted architect, Robert A. M. Stern. Stern was known for his designs of East Coast seaside homes and he brought his expertise of the New England seashore hotels of the late 1800's to the Yacht Club. Unlike the casual atmosphere of its sister resort, the Beach Club, the Yacht Club has more of a quiet, understated elegance about it. This sophistication is found in the dark hardwood floors, leather couches and antique chandeliers of the lobby. The nautical theme is enhanced with brass fixtures and rich millwork. The exterior of the stately Yacht Club is of gray and white clapboard. The East Coast seaside theme is prominent in this area with a lighthouse at the end of the Yacht and Beach Club dock and the Boardwalk that circles Crescent Lake.

To further enhance the resorts nautical theme, guest rooms at Disney's Yacht Club are decorated with white furniture and deep jewel tones throughout. The ship's wheel motifs on the headboards of the bed and upholstery embroidered with miniature anchors add to the nautical theme. In a guest room, you'll find 2 queen sized beds (or one king sized bed), a table, 3 chairs, refrigerator, coffeemaker, an armoire, a TV, a small safe and double marble sinks set in a vanity area separate from the tub and commode. Some rooms may include a daybed as well. French doors lead out to the spacious balconies or patios. There are 10 handicap accessible rooms here.

The Yacht Club shares its primary pool, Stormalong Bay, with Disney’s Beach Club Resort. This is like a mini-water park, and there are many areas to explore. The waterslide is housed in a shipwreck and empties out into the larger pool area. There is an area with pulsating water jets and a lazy river where you can float along the current in inner tubes. One of the most unique features of Stormalong Bay is the sandy bottom of the pool. There are several secluded hot tubs around the complex as well as a kiddie pool complete with a mini-water slide.
An additional quiet pool area is entirely separated from the Stormalong Bay area. It is located on the far extremity of the furthest side from Epcot. Pool towels are available in both locations.
Guests looking for more privacy can rent a poolside cabana for the day.
