Walt Disney Imagineering is going to reimagine Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park into a new land inspired by a region referred to as ‘tropical Americas.’ As part of their research, Imagineers are looking at some of the most biodiverse areas on the planet in the regions just north and south of the equator in the Western Hemisphere – the northern part of South America, stretching up into Central America. Construction on the land is set to begin in the fall of 2024 and it will open in 2027.

When guests walk over from Discovery Island to enter Tropical Americas, they're entering a new town Disney is creating called Puebla Esperanza, which means "Village of Hope." The town is located within a lush rainforest and similar to Harambe, this town will feel lived in. The buildings there will be built in a classic Spanish style. There will be a large fountain in the center where folks can gather and tell stories.

The food and culture of the region will be reflected in the marketplace area where a Hacienda will be located.

New experiences inspired by Encanto, including the Casita, are being planned. Disney fan-favorite adventurer Indiana Jones is replacing DINOSAUR in the reimagined land!

Tropical Americas will feature an Encanto section with the vibrant Casa Madrigal from the film. Guests will arrive on the day Antonio receives his gift of communicating with animals, transported by magical, animated furniture within the house. Plus, his room has transformed into a rainforest. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into

Visitors will also explore a new area known as the ‘village of hope,’ which will include a carousel featuring wood-carved Disney animals.

Despite sharing the same ride system as DINOSAUR, the new Indiana Jones attraction will present an entirely new story set in a Mayan Temple.

In this new venture, the man with the hat has recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya templen, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.
