During a media event last night, Disney California Adventure shared more information about the new Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party, including a closer look at Villainous!, an update to the Frightfully Fun Parade, and a sneak peek at the party exclusive merchandise.
Oogie Boogie Bash requires a separate ticket and is held after-hours at California Adventure 20 select nights starting September 17th. This event replaces Mickey’s Halloween Party, which had been held in Disneyland Park.
The highlight of the party is the new World of Color show, Villainous!, featuring an all-new character from Disney animator Eric Goldberg.
The show focuses on Shelly Marie, a young girl trying to decide what this year’s Halloween costume should be, wondering if she could really pull off the strong and unique look of some of her favorite Disney characters.
Villainous! uses the World of Color fountains to show Shelley Marie’s unforgettable journey as she explores the villainous side of Disney characters before learning that, deep down, there’s a little villain in all of us.
The recently updated Frightfully Fun Parade makes its way across the esplanade to join the Oogie Boogie Bash, bringing with it the ride of The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow and his ghostly black steed.
The parade features many of your favorite Disney characters (and villains), including Mickey, Minnie, and Jack Skellington.
New this year, the mischievously smiling Cheshire Cat even joins in the fun!
The party will also feature the interactive Mickey’s Trick and Treat show in the Disney Junior theatre. Younger guests can join Mickey Mouse and his pals for a Halloween party that includes dancing, not-so-scary stories, and candy.
Also in Hollywood Land, DescenDANCE brings the Descendants films to the Backlot area with a wicked party, which includes a dance crew showing off their moves on the Backlot stage. The Backlot DJ will keep the music playing all party long.
The new Villains Grove inside the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will have guests entering the world of Disney villains. The area is being transformed with lighting, projections, sounds, and special effects. A series of scenes will create a dream-like story that emerges from the darkest night to create an enchanting world.
Finally, a Halloween party wouldn’t be complete without treat trails. This year, guests will trick-or-treat through trails themed to the Mad Hatter from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland or even Oogie Boogie himself. Treat trails will feature huge cauldrons full of treats for guests to enjoy.
During the party, guests can pick up event-exclusive merchandise, including headbands, clothing, and a light-up sipper. Look for t-shirts, zip-up hoodies, and the ever-popular spirit jersey.
Tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party range from $110 to $145, depending on the night, with discounted tickets available for Annual Passholders on some nights.
Tickets are available for the following dates: September 17, 19, 22, 24, 29, October 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, and 31. September 26 is sold out.
