Disney Cruise Line has launched a new informational website with details on its plans for the southern point of Eleuthera – Lighthouse Point in The Bahamas.
As we’ve previously reported, Lighthouse Point is going to be developed as a second private island location that Disney Cruise Line passengers will experience during their cruise.
The new website is divided into the following sections: Economic Opportunities, Environment, Culture, Community, Progress, News, and FAQs.
In the Progress section of the site, Disney has shared an illustration of their plans for Lighthouse Point which includes an Adventure Camp with trails and lookout towers, pedestrian nature trails and even a Spa and Wellness area. The illustration also shows a North Family Beach and an East Family Beach along with South Beach Cabanas which will overlook the ship’s berth.
The design for Lighthouse Point is inspired by the natural environment and rooted in the culture of Eleuthera and The Bahamas more broadly.
Disney has made a commitment to work with the Access Accelerator Small Business Development Centre who will aid in the development and funding of programs that will provide support for Bahamian enterprises seeking to do business at Lighthouse Point.
Construction will begin on the site once the Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Plan are accepted by the government, public consultation has occurred, and all other necessary government permits and approvals have been granted.
Hiring for operational roles is expected to begin in 2022 and the expected completion of the area is said to be 2022 or 2023.
