Art of Animation is a very unique Walt Disney World resort. It has 3 buildings similar to Disney’s Pop Century Resort buildings that are Little Mermaid themed and can sleep up to 4 people. The rest of the resort has family suites that can sleep up to 6 people. There are different sections of the family suite buildings that feature The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. I have stayed in a Little Mermaid room in the Art of Animation twice in the past few months. I had never stayed at Art of Animation before, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this resort! I enjoyed it so much in October that I was excited to book another stay there in January.
Here are some of the pros and cons of staying in the Little Mermaid section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.
Pro: Theming
This resort is so well themed. Kids will love to stay there because of the larger than life Disney characters that are found everywhere you look. There were movie elements and character statues placed throughout the grounds. Every inch of our Little Mermaid room was themed, from the flooring in the bathroom to each mirror. With Disney seeming to be getting away from the blatant resort theming in favor of more subtle touches, I found the theming here refreshing.
Con: Size
This resort is massive. The Little Mermaid rooms are in buildings 7, 8, and 9, on the opposite side of the resort from the bus stop and the Disney Skyliner station. It feels like it takes forever to get to the transportation hubs and main lobby.
Pro: Being a Disney Skyliner Resort
Having a Skyliner station at this resort is a tremendous benefit. It makes transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios a lot more enjoyable. The continuous movement of the Skyliner makes it much quicker than waiting for a bus, especially now that buses to these two parks are running on a limited schedule.
Con: Thin Walls
Our first stay in a Little Mermaid room did not have an adjoining door to another room, and our stay was very quiet. Our second stay had an adjoining door in the room, and we could easily hear everything said in the room next to us.

We had two different families staying in the room next to us while we were there, and we could clearly hear them through the adjoining door. Late night conversations and early morning crying children next door did not make for a peaceful sleep. If you don’t need it, recommend a room without an adjoining door.
