Top Three Tips for When the Rain Comes at Walt Disney World

Top Three Tips for When the Rain Comes at Walt Disney World The_Great_Movie_Ride

Walt Disney World is in Central Florida, and chances are that during your trip it will rain. However, rain does not have to ruin your day. In fact, it can make your day better. Here are three tips to help you get through the rain at Walt Disney World.

Buy A Poncho

Seriously, a poncho can mean the difference between being miserable and soaking wet or continuing with a semi-normal day. Disney sells high quality ponchos in every one of their shops in the parks for $9. Of course, you can buy a poncho for cheaper elsewhere if you know it is going to rain. If you would rather bring a raincoat along with you, that would also work in protecting against rain. The important thing is to ensure that you don’t get soaked.

Bring Proper Footwear

A poncho or raincoat can only protect you so much against the rain. Having your upper body be dry will make no difference if your feet are soaked. Although it’s important to wear sneakers in order to stay comfortable in nice weather, it’s a good idea to bring a pair of Crocs or flip-flops along with you. Having a pair of waterproof shoes can help ensure that you can stay in the park comfortably in the rain. It is terrible to walk around the park with soaking wet sneakers.

Enjoy Short Waits and Little Crowds

When it begins to rain in the parks, most people leave. However, most attractions stay open (outdoor attractions close with lightning). During the rain you can enjoy very short wait times and little crowds, I once saw the Splash Mountain standby line say 0 minutes. You can also take great photos with relatively few people in them (assuming you have a proper phone case or waterproof camera). Also, the nightly shows typically continue to run in the rain, but be sure to check or ask a Cast Member.

When it rains in Walt Disney World, be grateful! As long as you’re properly prepared, the rain can actually make your day in the parks better.
