Ship: Disney Dream Stateroom: 10008 Condition: 5
Deck: 10 Category: 5 Location: Forward
  Sail Date: 05/29/11

Notes: We loved this room! The location was so convenient to the food and pool areas. It was a very quiet location with no additional motion or vibration. We could watch the captain when he was "driving" from the bridge on our side of the ship. This room DOES NOT face Castaway Cay when docked.

Ship: Disney Dream Stateroom: 10008 Condition: 5
Deck: 10 Category: 5A Location: Forward
  Sail Date: 01/15/11

Notes: Having read reviews of how small the rooms were, I was quite surprised on how spacious this was. I have traveled a lot but never on a cruise. First impression was nice. The doors are narrow, but that is to be expected for ship. This room is on the port side forward not far from the forward elevators. Inside was really nice and clean. Two closets to the left with the safe in the first one. To the right was the split bathroom. I liked this set-up as the toilet has a sink and a few shelves with ample storage. The shower side was spacious considering you are on a ship. It too has a sink with shelves. What I thought was neat was the magnifying part of the mirror. There are two clothes lines in the shower/tub that we just left out the whole trip. The only thing I found was clothes did not dry very well when hung inside the shower. The bed was surprisingly comfortable with ample storage room under it. If you look to the right of it there is a clock with iPod dock. When we got there the time was wrong and we found out why that night. It is very bright. Did I say very? Under the shelve holding the clock is an outlet that it is plugged into with two outlets. To the left of the bed on a stand is the room phone. There are two light switches, one for the bed lamp and one for the lights over the bed and hall. Next to the closets is a three drawer shelf combo. The three of us each took one for our stuff. The shelves above are where the glasses and ice bucket were. The desk area was well appointed. My only complaint is the chair with it sucked. TV was nice, but we really weren't in the room enough to watch it. There are a lot of light switches there and not marked well so you have to guess a bit. One is marked night light which turns on a dim light over that area. Only used it one night as the clock made a much more effective night light. There are some small shelves and some drawers. Directly behind the desk was the couch and bunk bed. The chest/table was great for storing our small carry on type bags and was moveable. Didn't use the couch much other than throwing stuff on it or keeping pillows. You get a lot of pillows. The boy loved the bunk bed but said it was a little hard, although he was lights out shortly after getting into it nightly. We had a veranda which I thought was cool. It was nice to have the option of going out for some fresh air. However, they are a smoking area and the room two doors to our left were out there smoking a LOT. Yes this deck has the overhang but I it did not bother me. I really didn't care to see what was up above. I liked looking down and to the left or right. When you looked aft, you got a great view of the length of ship and it was cool watching it dock in Nassau. Looking right you looked into the Navigation Bridge which to me was neat. The door opening to the veranda was not nearly as complicated as I read about. There is a safety lock up at the top which was out of prying hands reach. I thought the room was convenient to the swim decks and Cabanas. All you had to do was walk to midship and go up and poof your there. You could also go to the Forward stairs and up but it takes you through the adult pool. We tried to avoid that out of respect. Getting to the dining areas was a trek but, I think that was a good thing after having stuffed yourself with all that food. We did NOT notice any extraneous noises that people complain about. You do hear the clunk or thud of the thrusters from time to time but remember you are on a ship. I would rather hear that and know things are working than not. As for hallway noise, well youre on a ship catering to kids what do you expect. Yes there were the occasional late night hallway runs but most nights we didn't get to bed until well after midnight. This room is well forward that you do not hear anything from the pools as it is under the concierge level rooms and I didn't even notice anything from them. Overall, I thought it was an excellent room and would book it again.
