Ship: Disney Magic | Stateroom: 1066 | Condition: 3 |
Deck: 1 | Category: 9D | Location: Mid |
Sail Date: 11/24/13 | ||
Notes: Room was clean and in full working order. Fairly convenient location although you cannot access the cabins on Deck 1 from the Aft elevators. Does not have a good view when you are in port and people could see right in our cabin. The ocean view from the 2 small porthole windows is very close to the water obviously, and with rough seas it felt a bit like being in a washing machine. All in all not a bad cabin if you don't mind an ocean view on deck 1. |
Ship: Disney Dream | Stateroom: 1066 | Condition: 3 |
Deck: 10 | Category: 6A | Location: Aft |
Sail Date: 01/26/11 | ||
Notes: I actually would put it at 3.5 ratings.
The room will sleep 4 with convertible sofa and a bunk.
The big plus:
1. Huge verandah with 2 chairs and 2 loungers.
2. Really easy access to Cabanas
The minus:
1. Deck gets covered with black sandy things after we sailed, not sure what they are. So do the chairs and lounges
2. Loud noises from Deck 11 like chairs/tables dragged all over the place
3. It's a good amt of walk from the aft to the forward of the ship.
4. Random maintenance people show up on your verandah
unannounced.
5. Weird A/C situation. Could't get it to be at any comfortable temperature even if we leave it to a specific setting the room could get really cold or really warm in the same day. Very strange.
And maybe this just explains our ineptitude, but we could not work the clock/ipod dock at all. We accidentally pulled the clock off the plug and we just couldn't reset the time or anything. Definitely couldn't figure out how to set the alarm. The "set" button seem to get stuck. |

Notes: The room was great. There was a pump noise that you heard, but not enough to bother. I liked that you could close the port holes for darkness. Plenty of room for the 3 of us. Convenient to the elevators. |

Notes: We loved our cabin. The view is so different from all the other deck because you are closer to the ocean! It isn't noisy. There were some noises when we were docking, but they were very muffled. All in all, it was wonderful! |

Notes: What a great room!
Our family of 5 got the connecting rooms-1066 & 1068. This was our second cruise, the first one was on the Magic. While on the magic we stayed in category #3, a 1 bedroom suite with double verandah. Needless to say we were nervous to go from the top level all the way down to the bottom, but it was a last minute, tack it onto the parks splurge.
We were so surprised! The rooms were very roomy with alot of storage. Our suitcases fit under the bed and we unloaded all the contents in the drawers and still had left over room. The rooms never seemed cluttered and were bright and cheery. The portholes were plenty big for a few little faces to look out at the same time.
The porter was so very nice! We got our luggage delivered as fast as we did up in cat. 3! When we first got there, we asked for extra towels and gave him a tip...from that point on we got first class service. We got ice every afternoon and fresh towels and nifty animals on the bed.
The halls were VERY quiet. It was like living on a court. No one ever comes down there! Easy access to elevators, never had to wait as expected...often just took the stairs.
The only drawbacks would be in comparison to the one bedroom suite with seperate dressing room and walk in closet, so not too fair, but I'll still let you know. Not having a balcony was a bummer, but really not a big deal. We went to the big departure party so we were on deck, and if we wanted to see out, we just peeked out the porthole. The other drawback was the toilet. We had a "real" toilet in the category 3 room, and in the cat. one room, it was a typical boat toilet...where the slot opens up and a huge force sucks it down. Sometimes a bit smelly, but didn't really notice.
That's it! As a matter of fact, we re-booked the Magic again for January 2007 and opted out of the cat. 3 room again and re-booked the same category!
In short, you will LOVE this spacious, quiet, private room! |

Notes: Our family stayed in 1066,1068,1074 and 1076 and the rooms were great. We had been concerned about possible noise but there wasn't anything but a peaceful white noise faint hum. Very comfortable and the elevators were easily accessed. First floor elevators dont always go to fore and aft so you have to go up and down at times but it was only a slight inconvenience for the strollers. Otherwise we took the stairs. When I was searching there was very little on the deck 1 rooms and what I did find was not all positive. So if you have any of these rooms relax and enjoy as we did! |

Notes: Noise was minimal. Great location on port days getting on and off the ship. Little traffic and no crowds around elevators. The two smaller portholes were "ok", but not as nice as the bigger one we had on deck 2. |
