Notes: On the bright side, the room is close to mid elevators and stairs, and only two flights of stairs away from the main action on deck 3. The room is a typical deluxe inside (split bathroom), and connects to 1067.
The hallway of deck 1 where this room is located has some periodic noises from what appear to be crew area elevators - these are fixed pitch sounds which occur randomly throughout day and night, and usually last under 15 seconds. However, this same mechanical noise is much louder inside this stateroom - it reaches the level of about 60dB, enough to drown out a TV on low volume, with the floor vibrating as the equipment starts and stops. Definitely not for light sleepers, or anyone who can get annoyed by random sounds. DCL is definitely aware of this issue. They should take this room out of guest service for good, just as they did with several rooms on deck 2 behind mid elevators (now used as DVC office). |

Notes: Our story starts out badly, but has a happy ending...
This was our first Disney Cruise and we booked IGT. We understood that we had to take whatever room was assigned to us and were totally ok with that. This is a Deluxe Inside Stateroom and were happy to get it, as we knew that it was a step up over a Standard one, which we couldve been assigned.
In the one hour we were in our room between it being ready and going to the Muster Drill, we heard a mechanical noise- we think, perhaps, a hydraulic lift of some sort. The sound happened intermittently throughout the rest of the short time we were in our room that afternoon and also through the night. It was loud enough to wake me from my sleep once.
I went to Guest Services at 6:15 a.m. the next morning to ask (kindly) if anything could be done about the noise. I was prepared for a "no", but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Within 15 minutes, an officer was sent to come to our room and he and I talked in the hallway (my family was still asleep inside the room). Although he didn't hear the sound himself, he said he'd talk to Guest Services for me. Someone from Guest Services then called me within 20 minutes, offering a different room. I accepted, and was told a manager would call in a little while.
Around 9am, I received a call from a very nice and apologetic Guest Services manager. She offered a new room and even met me there to inspect it first. I was pleasantly surprised to find the new room was a category 9A (Deluxe Oceanview) and was being offered to us at no additional charge! We really wouldve been more than happy with any room (even a lower category), as long as we didnt have to hear that noise anymore but we never asked or expected any room changes. Within an hour, we finished packing up and someone immediately came and moved our bags for us.
The next morning (first morning in our new room), we received a call from the same Guest Services Manager. She asked how our room was, we said it was great and thanked her again.
The next day, we came back to our new room in the afternoon to find gifts for our kids from Guest Services with a note again apologizing for the inconvenience to us the day before- this was well above and beyond our expectations!
Interestingly, I am 99.9% certain that I heard the exact same mechanical noise while I was sitting in the portside lobby waiting for a character appearance (before the ambient noise got loud there). I really believe that DCL knows about it, but books that room anyway.
In summary, we had an excellent experience because we switched rooms. We would not have been happy if we'd had to stay in that room for a whole week. Already by the second morning, the noise was making us edgy. I strongly believe that, even at our fabulous IGT rate, that room should not be used for guests.
Post Script: We did notice that we felt the general movement of the ship significantly less in this room (Deck 1, Midship) than we did in our new room (Deck 6, Forward). If ship movement is an issue or concern for you, definitely consider a lower deck, midship location.

Notes: on our cruise there was some type of mechanical thingy below the room that made noise - kinda like a lifting arm of a machine - at first we thought it was stuff with loading but at midnight it was still happening - every 10 minutes - went to Guest Services and inquired about the noise - they never said what was causing it but we were moved to another room as I did not want to chance it overnight and not being able to sleep. I did not pick this room - I was assigned it. Everything else about the room was great and as expected - just this one issue and not sure if it is something that was just on our cruise or is all the time. |

Notes: Our family of six had adjoining rooms 1067-1069. The rooms themselves were great, we loved having four bathrooms and had lots of room. The only inconvenience was the location - there is no access to these rooms from aft-only midship and forward. This means that getting on and off at port on the aft end and getting to and returning from aft restaurants meant no straight trips to deck 1 -first we'd need to get to deck 2 and go to midship before going down to deck 1. |
