Ship: Disney Magic | Stateroom: 2616 | Condition: 1 |
Deck: 2 | Category: 9C | Location: Aft |
Sail Date: 12/18/16 | ||
Notes: Out of 17 Disney Cruises, I would have to say this is the worst room I have ever stayed in. The room itself smelled like mold, mildew, and was extremely damp. The AC did not work well. The bathroom smelled like cat pee. The room is right below the kitchen and you hear banging all hours of the day and night. The staff tried to "clean" the room, but just really masked the odor with terrible air freshener. If you have this room booked, you should really consider changing it! |

Notes: I'm pretty sure there were elephants doing the mambo on the deck above us! There was constantly banging and moving happening at all hours of the day and night. The view of Castaway Cay were lovely and the movement/vibration was minimal. |

Notes: The number one benefit of this room is location. It was close to the Aft elevators and stairs. It was very convenient for topsiders, 9th floor snacks/drinks, Animator's Palette and Parrot Cay. I would hate to be Forward and thirsty at midnight. :)
There was quite a bit of noise. Nothing that hindered our experience or kept us up. But there was definitely noise. They must have been doing renovations near us during the day because we heard what sounded like hammers, saws and drills. Rumor was they were starting to renovate prior to dry dock but I'm not sure how true that was. Not a lot of noise while sleeping. We did wake up one morning at 5AM to the sound of something crashing above us - I'm guessing dishes.
I spent a lot of time debating categories. I'm glad we decided against the inside cabin. I liked being able to look out the porthole and see what was happening outside. We even saw a pod of dolphins which was awesome. I'm also glad we didn't have a verandah as I would have been very worried with small children.
The porthole was cleaned a few times on the outside which was a nice surprise - it certainly needed it every few days.
I would stay in this room/area again. I definitely want to be AFT for all future cruises.

Notes: This was our first cruise so we didn't know what to expect. I was a little concerned it may be noisy being under Dining rooms but it was peaceful and we had no issues. Split bathroom and size made it perfect for the 2 of us.
The Aft elevators are very close and were usually very quiet. was also close to Laundry which made it a little easier. Liked it so much we have booked the same room again :) |

Notes: VERY convenient being close to the elevators. Heard some banging above in the morning one day, but that was it. |

Deck: 2 | Category: 9 | Location: Aft |

Notes: Reasons that make this room great are:
1. Proximity to the aft elevators - they are right out front of your door. This means, you are right below Parrot Cay, and two floors below Animators Palate. Further, a quick ride to deck 9 and you are right at Topsiders, and the soda fountain. Having quick access to the soda fountain is wonderful if you are mixing drinks in your room :) A quick ride to deck 5 and you are a short walk to the kids clubs.
2. On days the ship is in port, you are directly below the gangway to get on and off the boat, and you do not have to wait for the elevator as you are one flight up. Very convenient!
3. The views are great!
4. Yes, you are below the kitchen. The only time that we found the noise from the kitchen to be a problem was on our last day, probably because they were preparing early for the 6:45am seating. The noise never bothered my kids and with the purr of the engines you were asleep in no time flat. We didn't notice a problem with cargo being unloaded/loaded while in port probably because we were up and getting ready for the day.
5. The laundry facilties are close by and with only 3 locations on the ship, having the laundry just on the other side of the ship on deck 2 is very handy.
Would I choose this room location again? Most likely as I did not find the rocking sensation to be an issue at all on deck 2. And remember, you are sleeping, showering and changing clothes here - you have an entire ship to enjoy! |

Notes: The room size was great and split bathroom a pleasant surprise. Location to stairs and elevators convenient. HOWEVER - it was extremely noisy in the very early hours of the morning - carts rolling and crashing into things - woke you up by four every morning, so be prepared if you like to sleep in. |

Deck: 2 | Category: 9 | Location: Mid |

Notes: Below PC kitchen area. Lots of banging (sounded like heavy boxes being dropped) around 2-4 am. Also loud on port days when the gangway is being opened. Convient to the aft elevators and stairs which makes it handy for dinner and port days. Has a steamer trunk! |

Notes: The location was great for dining, getting to the pools and getting off of the ship.
But it's directly below the kitchen. So when they started getting breakfast ready you knew it. Lots of banging, crashing and rolling around early in the morning. I contacted Guest Serves one morning it was so bad. They offered to send me ear plugs. |

Notes: Very noisy in the middle of the night. Was woken up at about 2 a.m. by what sounded like heavy carts being rolled around intermittently. We were told the space above us was the galley area. Were kept awake until probably 5 a.m. Transferred to another room the next day. |
