Notes: Very quiet room/hall except for anytime entering or leaving port. The vibrations shook the entire room and everything rattled very loudly, would usually last about 30 mins or more depending on the port. Not fun on a 7 night southern Caribbean cruise with 5 different ports. Would not book a room this far aft again. Also had an issue with the bathroom door not closing but was fixed as soon as we told our stateroom host. |

Notes: The stateroom itself was beautiful! The large porthole window so close to the ocean was cool to watch. It was close enough to the elevators and the hallway noise was very minimal. The reason for the below average rating was for 2 main reasons. First, the air conditioning wasn't working to full capacity and when we asked to have it looked at they said that's as cool as it gets. Having 2 adults and 2 children in the room it would get pretty stuffy in there then in the middle of the night it would kick in full blast and freeze us out! Second, the noise level when porting (4:00 to 5:00 AM!!) was so loud that it would shake the entire cabin! I thought the lamps we're going to come off the walls at some point! This would go on and off for a good 1/2 hour at least. I have no idea how anyone could possibly sleep through that. We would try to go back to sleep but a scared 2 year old would prevent that. If you can sleep through EXTREME noise then this room is great otherwise keep looking!! |

Notes: We are not neurotic, we just like this cabin. We have been in this cabin almost 6 times and LOVE it! I saw someone else complain about the rattle from the thrusters when porting but that is going to happen... It does rattle like the WHOLE ship will at port (arrival and departure only for just a few minutes) but it is a VERY quiet cabin. There is virtually NO hall noise and the engine noise is minimal. We like it because it seems to lull us to sleep like a white noise generator.
Additionally, because the cabin is low and aft there is less bouncing during the cruise. I have seen waves splashing the porthole on this cabin back in 2004 but never had better cruising than this area of the ship.
Here is the best part, after huge dinners it is just one (or two) floor(s) down (with gravity) to get 'home'. After exhausting ports of call while everyone else is waiting for elevators you take one deck of stairs and you are home... no crowded elevators, EVER! (If, of course, you can climb stairs.)
Plus, at Castaway Cay the starboard side has the BEST view of the island. |
