Ship: Disney Magic | Stateroom: 5124 | Condition: 4 |
Deck: 5 | Category: 5 | Location: Aft |
Sail Date: 04/30/11 | ||
Notes: Perfect for adults traveling without kids! Close to restaurants, stairs (need that exercise, right?), and movie theater. Verandah was the best - opened up the otherwise small room.
Posters mentioning noise may have referred to an electric pump / motor sound running 10's of seconds, every few minutes. It's not dead quiet, true, but think of it as part of the ship's 'breathing' - just like the deck rumbling and slight pitching with heavy seas... Way quieter than college dorms and city apartments!
Room under the bed for suitcases but bring extra hangers - about 12 supplied quickly used up. Also bring an 1/8" phone plug to L/R RCA plug audio cable and you can plug your iPod/iPhone into the back of the TV for your tunes!
Only thing keeping this from a '5' was some left over masking tape around a teak plate on the verandah, not removed from the last time they varnished.
Our stateroom hostess, Jenny, was always cheerful and made the room feel *perfect* each time we returned.
We'd definitely pick this room again! |

Notes: I agree totally with other reviews. This stateroom should be a category 11.The noise occurs every 10 min. on the dot. 24 hrs. a day. It is extremely annoying and we were awake most of our cruise. We came home to get some sleep. Flooding also occured so much on the deck my husbands shoes floated away. Avoid this stateroom. |

Notes: There's another report on this room that makes it sound more like it's next to the engine room than where it really is. Personally I LOVED the location only a few steps away from the Aft elevators and movie theater. The kids area is on this deck but they're not running around so it's not a factor. This room put us in a position to be anywhere on the ship inside of 5 minutes. Was excellent and would stay in again.
Had some water on the balcony when we boarded but a quick call had it taken care of in less then 10 minutes, never had another issue. |

Notes: You may want to avoid this room. There is a noise that sounds like a steam whistle that goes off every 7 minutes 24 hours a day. I called Guest Services, who had "no idea what I was talking about". Gee, no one ever questioned the steam whistle? They offered ear plugs.
When I asked the steward, he said it was the hydraulics. His English couldn't go further than this, but he was sure about the word "hydraulics".
The balcony fills with water whenever it rains or they clean the ship. I had to have the people come twice to suck out all the water on the balcony.
For some reason, they pound on metal intermittently starting very early in the morning too.
My next door neighbor was quite irritated by all this too. So beware those beside this room also. |

Notes: Loved our location. It was close to theatre, aft elevators/stairs. The beverage station was right up the staircase. It was close to a public bathroom. Also, it wasn't way back a corridor. Right off the main area. It was quite a walk to the adults pool, but it really didn't matter much. I would stay in this room again. Didn't hear any noise. |
