Ship: Disney Dream Stateroom: 5656 Condition: 5
Deck: 5 Category: 4E Location: Aft
  Sail Date: 06/25/17

Notes: We loved this room. The extended verandah is amazing. We didn't use it as much as we thought we would, but would book it again in a heartbeat. The only negatives are that people can look down into your balcony and it gets a lot of sun (a positive for some)! The location on the ship is perfect, especially if you have kids. However, while being right around the corner from the clubs, you're on the starboard side so you don't get the traffic that the aft extended verandah rooms get on the port side. This room is so convenient to stairs/aft elevators, but again we had no noise issues. Being on a "dead end" certainly helps. We could easily access all of the decks.

Notes: *BEWARE* This cabin is listed as a deluxe but having stayed in a 4D deluxe last time this is a mis-catergarozation. The Deluxe Family Ocean View Staterooms w/ Verandah have a round bathtub and extra space in the Cabin. This Cabin is the same size as a Cat 5 cabin in the interior, Disney classifies it as a “Deluxe” Because the overall square footage including the balcony is 300 Sq. feet. But we know aside from the balcony it is the inside that counts. This cabin is 204 sq ft inside which is the same as a Cat 5 vs 241 Sq. Ft inside. For us the extra 50 sq ft of balcony was not worth it and would have gladly paid the extra 100 or so for the bigger cabin. When looking at the website and the cabins look at the Cat 5 footprint to know what you are getting and not the Cat 4. Aside from the cabin size things I found with the extended balcony. You do get 4 chairs two of which recline and a small table, plenty of sun but a small space of shade. Everybody does look down on you and the balcony catches a lot of things from above. We found hair barrettes, cigarette butts and other trash periodically on our deck. There are noises throughout the night from toilets flushing elsewhere, the noises is not a normal toilet flush but rather a loud bang like metal hitting metal. I slept through it but my young kids were awoken by several times. It is around the corner from the kids clubs and down the hallway enough you do not hear any noise outside you cabin from the elevator lobby. Considering all the problems with this cabin I would not recommend it to anyone unless you want a really big balcony at the expense of everything else. We booked another cruise while on board and made sure it was a 4D.

Notes: I did really love this room. The extended veranda was amazing and had two reclining lounge chairs as well as the two regular chairs and table. Some people have said they worry about the lack of privacy from others looking down but this was not an issue as the deck is not overlooked by any public decks and people in the cabins above were rarely hanging over their rail looking down! This veranda also wraps slightly and gets more sun as it is open yet there is the regular covered section too in the event of rain. It was in a quiet area in terms of footfall outside the door i.e. a corridor to nowhere. It was very convenient for the Oceaneer lab/club and the aft elevators. Like other reviewers I too did notice some banging/slamming seeming to come from below. I have no idea what it was. However it did not really cause a problem and did not wake us. I also noticed a fair amount of vibration at times too, again not really a problem but noticeable. Great views of Castaway Cay too from this cabin and we were on the sunny side for the return to PC. A great cabin and the slight noise and vibration issues would not deter me from booking this again. I also think 5658 and 5664 would be good too in this area as the verandas 'wrap' slightly. I think 5650 may have a bigger veranda (wider) but I think the view in one direction would be obscured by the lifeboat.

Notes: Room was conveniently located near the AFT elevators and was in a very quiet area of the ship in terms of foot traffic. The verandah was amazing! It was really nice and large. Great place to watch the fireworks on Pirate's Night! The only complaints we had were: 1) Noise from the thrusters on a few of our nights was a bit loud and the vibrations were very noticeable 2) We could hear the toilets flushing in Europa during the day and until about 1am at night. 3) Not sure what this was - but, for a couple of nights, near the end of our week we heard what sounded like someone dropped a large bin below our stateroom and then proceeded to throw the items back into the bin over the next hour. LIke I said, not sure what it was, but it was loud and woke me from a sound sleep both nights it occured. Only woke my husband on the second night but neither of my teens heard it - they are much heavier sleepers than I :) I wish I could give this room a 5 because, as I said, the verandah was amazing. The views at St. Thomas and Castaway Cay were wonderful. Other than the issues mentioned, it was a really quiet area of the ship and so convinient for my husband and I to get to Europa and for my entire family to get to Cabanas.

Notes: Very convenient to the adult area as well as the restaurants. Elevators just a few doors away. Quiet area of the ship. Little to no foot traffic. Even with an enchanted painting near the Elevator and Pepe's door around the corner we never noticed any noise. The extended balcony was AMAZING. You could sleep four people out there! It's been a while since I've been on a cruise so my sea legs are a bit rusty but didnt find it to be bad. (some people say Aft can be more rough) Great view when docked at Castaway. One tiny con. Every now and then there was a large bang noise. Almost as if a cart was hitting a wall. Never did figure out where it came from or what caused it but didn't happen at night or often enough to sway how much I loved this stateroom.

Notes: VERY convenient to aft elevators and kids club. Verandah is massive, with extra pool-style recliner/lounger in addition to chairs. Pull-down bed for parties of 4. No noise noticed at all, except the soft snore of a tuckered 3.5 yr old!

Ship: Disney Dream Stateroom: 5656 Condition: 4
Deck: 5 Category: 5E Location: Aft

Notes: Location of stateroom is great in relation to stairs and elevator, however it is NOT noisy because of this. The verandah is one of the extended ones which was amazing! Not too noisy at night yet it should be noted that it is above the District washrooms and you are able to hear the flush and slam of the toilet seats!
