Ship: Disney Fantasy | Stateroom: 8188 | Condition: 5 |
Deck: 8 | Category: 5E | Location: Aft |

Notes: We stayed in 8188 and were worried about previous reviews on other sites about movement/vibration, smell, etc. but honestly, we absolutely loved this location. It was nice as there was absolutely no foot traffic by our door since its dead center aft. Our verandah was beautiful and we used it daily. We had 2 loungers, 2 regular chairs and a table out there and still had plenty of space. Our room fit 4 people (3 adults and 1 child) comfortably. Plenty of storage for suitcase under the bed. We smelled the smoke from the engines ONLY when we were idle, otherwise this was not an issue. Vibration, yes we felt it but we felt the same vibration elsewhere on the ship. The ONLY time we really felt it was when the ship was in full speed getting from St Thomas to Castaway Cay. Only downside I could find was it seemed liked we were further from everything except Cabanas. We would definitely stay in this location again. |

Notes: Yes you could feel some vibration when the ship was at high speed or docking, but hey you're on a ship. The oversized verandah was amazing. I would run up to Cabanas every morning, grab food for the family, and enjoy breakfast out on the amazing verandah! And the views to Castaway Cay are incredible (assuming the ship is backed in to port which is most of the time). And the fireworks on Pirate night are visible from the verandah. Very quiet w/ no foot traffic. IMO this is the best non concierge room on the ship. |

Notes: Absolutely incredible verandah with spectacular views. However, the exhaust smell kept us from enjoying it a lot of the time. Also a noticable vibration in the cabin from the engines (?). |

Notes: All the way aft with a view of the ships wake. Muster station is in the Evolution club on deck 4.
Extra large balcony about 6 paces by 7 paces deep. Over hang was about 4 paces from the door.
Balcony is wider than others due to the cleaning closet between this room and 8684. Balcony had 2 standard chairs, 2 reclining chairs, and a small table. You cannot stand exactly at the edge of the ship due to the inward lean of the railing. There is no obstruction from the ship flag with this room. Noticed very little soot from the smokestack. Overhang provides protection from the sun if needed.
Bed shares wall with 8186. Bed faces port to starboard instead of bow to stern as in many other rooms. Standard split bath. Has pull out couch bed, do not remember if had pull down berth.
There is some vibration from engine during maneuvering into port. Be sure to separate clothes hangers and close safe each night.
Enjoyed close proximity to deck 10 up the stairs. Hallway is quiet since only people who have aft rooms go this far. Easy walk down to decks 4 and 5. Could be considered far from activities taking place at the bow of the ship, which would be a concern if mobility challenged. |

Notes: Chose this room for the extra large balcony which we loved. Only cons were: lots of vibration when backing into ports (I thought we were having an earthquake for a split second) which causes lots of rattling. We all awoke at 5:15AM on last morning and I had to rearrange glass ware and hangers and put towels under bathroom doors. Also, you can smell diesel burning from the smokestacks above, although faint. We loved our host Conrado from Columbia. |

Notes: This stateroom was great. Everything was in tiptop condition. Split bathroom was a nice touch. We had plenty of room. The verandah was huge! We could have had 20 people out there. I read reviews regarding diesel smells and feeling the ship shimmy. We never experienced any of this. Our room host was wonderful. My husband & I had a perfect cruise with Disney. |

Notes: I let a Disney Agent pick our room, she assured me we were in for a big surprise. (hint: verandah) She was so excited the room was available to snag for our first cruise: she'd personally stayed in it herself and had loads of wonderful things to say about this particular room. Still I had lots of questions since we were literally all the way on the back of the boat; would we hear engine noise? Is there any smoke pollution from the ship stacks? ect. I can say now that we've cruised that there was no smoke pollution or any kind of fuel smell; I didn't want an unpleasant vacation experience simply due to location. I will say it was unfortunate that a guest the floor above us decided to not follow the rules of no smoking on the verandah and we did find a few cigarette butts on our deck, one actually burned a hole in our lounge chair and was still sitting there when we found it. We alerted staff and the cigarette was cleaned up immediately and the guests above us were reminded that smoking was not allowed on your verandah. That was minor in the scheme of things.
The views from this verandah are amazing. Absolutely nothing stands in your way. You are 1 deck above the flag that they fly on the back of the ship, the flag does not obstruct views. One of the neatest things my family enjoyed was when we backed into ports or left ports. We had the best view of all the action, it's an interesting process! I will say that when they turn the boat to back into a port we were literally shook awake. I dont know if that was due to us being in the back? It seems as if everyone on board would have felt that, there was no sleeping through that and you pull into port very early. Maybe someone else can chime in and let us know if you feel that in other locations of the ship. We never heard engine noise and we enjoyed being so close to everything in the aft of the ship, you can be on the pool deck in seconds. A huge plus is elevators in the Aft aren't nearly as busy as mid-ship. We never had to wait. I didn't ever think we were too far away from anything on the ship in this location, but my kids were 8 & 10. I could understand how parents of young ones might feel this is a bit of a trek.
This Deluxe Ocean View room is just like every other in its category with what you get, but you gain quite a bit of space with that large verandah. On our last night we encountered some rough seas and we were literally rolling around in our beds. My husband got very sick and for this reason has decided that all future cruises will be mid-ship. Do we regret this room? No way, I'm glad we got to experience it, you tend to not spend a lot of time in your room but we made time for the views from that verandah and our family photos from it are stunning, but weve booked our next Disney cruise stateroom mid-ship.

Notes: I chose this stateroom solely based on the easy to remember number...
The verandah was ENORMOUS. Easily double the average depth and width, even though the stateroom is the same size as others in the category. This is due to a space between the room and the next one to starboard that is full of pipes and ducts. Sometimes this wasn't a problem, but late at night I could hear the pipes rattling and gurgling and it was frustrating for me. DCL couldn't do anything about it. The room is fantastic for anything that you want to do in the aft half of the ship, but it is a LONG way to things near the fore end like Senses, Walt Disney Theater or the retail promenade. I will not choose this stateroom again. |

Notes: Wonderful location! HUGE deck! Room is dead center at the back of the ship and since we backed into each port, we had a great view. Very little motion felt and no noise. Very convenient to aft elevators, Cabanas and Deck 11. Will definitely book this room again. |

Notes: We were very happy with this room. The verandah is huge with 2 lounge chairs; 2 regular chairs and one table. Beautiful views in every port. There is some vibration on the aft but not disturbing to us.Hardly any traffic in this short hallway, very quiet. Laundry wasn't far away. Would book it again in a heartbeat! |

Notes: Extra long balcony with chairs and loungers. Rumbling when pulling into port. No connecting stateroom. Easy to get to Cabanas, but far away from the forward areas (Walt theater, spa). Did not hear our neighbors. Great views off the back of the ship. Small amount of soot deposited on balcony deck by ship exhaust. Muster station O in Tube. |

Notes: The room was not noisy and we really enjoyed the location. Out of the way of the main traffic pattern since it is on the back of the boat. The balcony is oversized with a place to be in the sun and a place to be out of the sun. There were only two negatives - 1) sometimes you can smell the diesel exhaust very strongly. 2) if you are at the rail people can look down on you from higher decks. |

Notes: Loved it! Large balcony about 20' from door to rail At very center back of boat. Two deck chairs but no loungers like some of the aft balconies. Sleeps 4. Some vibration when pulling into port but that did not bother us. Muster station O in Evolution. Would definitely stay here again. |
