Ship: Disney Fantasy | Stateroom: 8530 | Condition: 4 |
Deck: 8 | Category: 5C | Location: Forward |
Sail Date: 06/22/19 | ||
Notes: This was our second sail in this room and we enjoyed it overall. The room has a pull down bunk, ottoman, and the standard furniture and features as seen in the layout.
Cleanliness: Overall the room is clean and I would give it a B. The sofa armrest had to be repaired three times while we occupied the room. It wasn't inconvenient as it was repaired while we were out but we were were told the furniture was broken when the room was inspected for bed bugs in between itineraries. This is per protocol but still off putting to hear when you first board. Other than that, the room had standard wear and tear but was in good condition.
Location: Whereas other rooms down this hallway don't have a room on the opposite side, this one is located across from a linen room accessible by the crew. You will hear some attendants coming and going especially during cleaning peak times but they were never loud. The room is far enough from the elevators so you don't hear a lot of late night traffic and convenient enough that it's a quick trip to the elevators or up the stairs to Senses spa which opens up to the adult swim section on deck 11. I found it easy to get to other areas of the ship easily.
Veranda/View: The veranda features two chairs and a small table and the view is unobstructed. There are no lifeboats underneath you. If looking down, you can see the extended veranda for deck 5 or 6. Finally, it falls on the starboard side with a great view of Castaway Cay. |

Notes: Quiet. Near midship, so conveniently located. No lifeboats below verandah. The opposite side of the hallway is the staff-only stairwell so the hallway is quiet as well. Plenty of space for 3 or 4 people, if you keep your stuff organized. Great views of Castaway Cay. Highly recommend. |

Notes: Slight noise due to overhead decks. Could hear chairs being set out in the morning and kids running during the day. Wasn't a problem for me, but did bother others in our party. Very convenient to everything on the ship including the lounge. Great view of CC! Tons of room and amenities. In room dining from Palo was definitely the highlight. |
Ship: Disney Fantasy | Stateroom: 8530 | Condition: 5 |
Deck: 8 | Category: 5B | Location: Forward |
Sail Date: 10/01/15 | ||
Notes: This room was perfect. It is on the Forward Starboard side so boarding we had the view of the terminal As well as the view of the castaway cay beach. it was quite and close to most venues. Had plenty of outlets for our needs and with two tweens it was great. We decided to leave the pull down bunk and lower bed open for the entire duration of our cruise for we never thought we would utilize the couch. This saved a lot of time for afternoon naps for our kids and the split bathroom was a plus. The tub in this room was not the typical "round" tub/shower but a small regular shaped tub. The Ship is VERY large and from the back of the ship it is a long walk to the front but nothing that isn't doable. The verandah is perfect. It does over look the decks below.... If you time it right you look down and see people sitting on their verandahs. So this rooms veranda is very exclusive. No one to see you from above or blow. Flush with the ship. Loved it so much we booked again in this room for 2017. |
Ship: Disney Wonder | Stateroom: 8530 | Condition: 5 |
Deck: 8 | Category: R | Location: Mid |
Sail Date: 07/07/13 | ||
Notes: 8530 is the Walt Suite on the Disney Wonder. My sister and I sailed with 3 teens. There was more than enough room for five adult-sized people.
About the room: The suite is mid-ship and close to the main elevators and stairs. It has two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a dining room and a library. There is a queen bed in the master, 4 twins in the 2nd bedroom (two of them are pull-downs) and a full-size murphy bed in the library. The room host will pull the murphy bed down and lock it back up every day if you want. That's a good idea since, when down, it takes up pretty much the whole room. The master has two sinks, a separate shower and whirlpool tub. All of the bedrooms have TVs. Even the library and master bath have a little ones. There is a larger TV in the living room. The living room TV has a DVD player; I think that the master does too. There are two small refrigerators; one in the pantry and one in the living room that they kept well-stocked with the beverages of our choice. There was storage galore all over the main cabin. The master didn't have quite enough drawers for 2 females. The suite comes with 4 wave phones. If you need more you have to go to guest services to get them.
Besides the lack of power, we only had three gripes: 1) There were not a lot of power outlets. That's not such a good thing for a family of five with a plethora of things that need to be charged. You aren't allowed to bring power strips, but you can bring expanders. Luckily we brought two three-outlet expanders and put both of them in the pantry for our charging needs. I was able to get three iphone bricks into each port (we had 3 iPads, 5 iPhones and a Nintendo DS to charge). 2) when we arrived in the suite we found that the shower head in the master bathroom was capped off so there was only a hand-shower available (and a punky one at that). I called housekeeping to let them know that this was less than acceptable. They sent a repair guy up and he took quite a while to fix it because there was more than just screwing on a new shower head required. It was fixed on the first day though so I was happy. 3) This one is way less of a gripe than the first two...there wasn't enough seating in the living area. We pulled one of the chairs from the library into the living room and we were good but the room host would move it back every day. Since it was fixable, that was fine; it won't be so fixable in a Royal on the Fantasy.
Miscellaneous: Our children absolutely loved our concierge host Jonathan. He was friendly and helpful. Our stateroom host was a godsend -- she would pick up after the children! We tipped her extra for that. We dined in our room every day for breakfast and several times for dinner. You can order from any of the main dining rooms and Palo. Your order is supposed to be from the same dining room for everyone, however, I'm gluten intolerant so they eventually let me order from anywhere and the others from the same MDR. They would also bring me creme brule whether we were ordering from someplace that had it or not (creme brule was the best GF desert I had on the ship). Having a door to separate a sleeping teen from the rest of us was awesome. We have to book the adjoining cabin for that on the new ships making an already fabulously expensive suite even more expensive. The suite comes with unlimited wireless internet. You get it in (I think 100min) blocks and they credit you for the cost. I frequently had problems accessing the internet in our suite. Sometimes it would work just fine and other times I would either have to stand in the doorway or go to the lobby. The speed would vary from adequate to painfully slow.
All-in-all, we had a fantastic time on our Alaska vacation and this suite contributed a lot to that experience since we're 'stay in the room a lot' kind of family. It was a pleasant place (with a wonderful view) for us to hang out. |

Notes: This room was amazing. So much space, which was awesome when our family needed space from each other! The 3 bathrooms were great, especially in the mornings. The little fridges were nice...too bad they weren't bigger, but we made them work! The concierge ensured that we had a constant supply of water, milk, pop (including lemonade from the MDR). The verandah was amazing, especially for Alaska. The location was great, especially when we needed to quickly run upstairs...no noise from the hallway was noticed. The only noise that we encountered was from the Quarter Masters, the arcade, which is located directly above the 2nd bedroom. Also, the room creaked a little when the seas got a little rougher...nothing serious, but it was noticeable. One hint...the living room furniture isn't attached so the floor, so it can be rotated to face outside, instead of to the tv! Suite was in great condition, no noticeable worn parts. |

Notes: Quiet room in excellent location. Housekeeping access across the hall rather than staterooms. This area is "active" only during luggage distribution and collection, so for the majority of the cruise, traffic in this hallway is very limited. Above and below are staterooms so there is no mechanical or common area noise. Stateroom is starboard with excellent views of ports such as Castaway Cay. Forward location allows quick access to theaters, adult pool areas and Vibe. Room is slightly smaller with less drawer/cabinet space than equivalent category in the Wonder/Magic. There is, however, additional storage space under the bed and the coffee "table" is actually a trunk-like storage area. Highly recommend. |

Notes: Fantastic accomodations! The 2 bedroom layout provides plenty of space and privacy. Having 2 showers and 3 toilets was a true luxury travelling with 3 women. The midship location was very convienient to everything. We did not notice any problems with noise. Our hostess Margaret and concierge manager Andreia were wonderful. If there was any 'negatives' at all, it would be that the wavephones did not work in the suite, I had to walk outside of it to get a signal. I missed the concierge lounge setup from the Dream. I especially missed the hi end coffee/espresso/cappucino maker in the lounge! The concierge hosts try to make themselves accessible but one day there was a glitch ... problem with the phone number, was constantly busy without going to voicemail and I could not get a hold of her for a few hours. I called guest services who had the other concierge host call me but we played a little phone tag. On the Dream, there are one of the hosts at the desk in lounge all day until 10pm
But beside that, our recent western was the BEST cruise we have taken so far and the suite enhanced the enjoyment.
We love the Roy, love the dark wood tones, love the starboard views at CC and ports. |

Notes: We enjoyed this stateroom. It was close to the aft elevator and stairs, but not noisy. It had a pull-down bunk and views of Castaway Cay when we were docked. There was a connecting door to the next stateroom, if you wanted to travel with someone else. Already booked this room for our next cruise. |

Notes: Everything was fantastic. Make sure on the very first day you get the concierge phone number. We did not and it made for some problems the first day (i.e. not enough adult life vests). After we got that number we had no problems at all - a simply phone call fixed anything and everything.
Some perks of this room included all the soda/water you want, breakfast from Lumire's, dinner from Palo (no extra charge),a multi-page list of DVDs to order and watch (delivered with popcorn), H20 Products everyday in both bathroom, fresh flowers in stateroom, a fruit basket on first day, special treats that you ordered daily to be delivered either at 4:30 or 6:30. Continental breakfast at your choice of dining times the morning of debarking. A lounge chair on the deck for lounging on, along with 4 regular chairs and 2 tables. We also had robes and slippers delivered for all staying in the room the night we sailed away. The kids even had gift cards to the arcade left in the room for them one day. There is also a cabinet with about 9 games (i.e. scrabble), and some of them even had the original shrink wrap on them. A card was delivered nightly with the weather report and sunrise/sunset times for the next day every night. 2 cloth laundry bags were also left daily. There is also a very large light over your doorway in the hall, so you always knew exactly where your room was as you walked down the hall.
There is a special concierge gathering for guests in cats 1-3 on Thursday night at topsiders includes drinks (both alcoholic and on alcoholic) finger type foods and visits from special characters, and also the captain.
Storage was wonderful there is a butlers pantry (extra frig in there!) that we stored all our luggage in.
Laundry room was one floor down and to the right and down the hall (bring your stateroom card, the machines no longer take cash)
You did hear some noise from deck 9, but not enough to ruin sleeping or conversations during the day.
You can actually sleep 2 in the master, 2 in the Murphy bed, 4 in the twin bedroom (2 pull down berths), and 1 on the couch for a total of 9 if you needed room for 9. We had 6 in the room, and we did not feel crowded at all.
Nicole (our concierge) seemed to anticipate any of our needs before we even had them. If you are lucky enough to get Nicole, your stay will be wonderful. Our stateroom host was Benny, and he did an outstanding job.
The only negative was the gathering as soon as you got on board you immediately went to Beat Street Id say skip it! The people there were not very organized your concierge person is not there, and they can do a much better job of making your reservations/changes/etc then the crew members who were there could. I was not impressed, and as this is supposed to be your first impression, it left a lot to be desired.
All in all, if you can get this room Id do it again in a heartbeat!

Notes: This room is incredible!! We got it through an upgrade at port from a Cat 6 room for our family of 4. The separate bedroom for the kids with the two shorter than normal twins was perfect for our 2 and 4 year old to sleep on, and the bedrail provided by our stateroom hostess was perfect for the 2 year old to keep her from falling out of bed! The separate room was wonderful during naps as we didn't have to tiptoe around the room while the kids slept. Having a walk in closet and plenty of drawers for the kids was also a big plus. They also had kid sized robes (1 pink and 1 green) that worked out well too.
The master bedroom was great though the drawers beside the bed, in the bathroom and in the closet all stick a bit and show some wear and team. There is also some corrosion around the shower base but the bathroom stayed dry as long as you pulled the shower door tight.
There are 4 flat screen TVs in the suite and at least 3 DVD players. Plus a Bose sound system on the main TV. The living room also had a couch and two leather chairs with ottomans, and there were two additional chairs in the library.
Our stateroom hostess Jerryll did a great job keeping the whole suite clean and tidy and did wonderful towel animals in both bedrooms each night.
The drawbacks of the suite include the noise from Deck 9 above. Especially over the living room. You can really hear them walk, run and talk up there, and especially hear it when they move furniture around up there and roll carts around deck. Also, we were told we'd be able to see the fireworks from our verandah, but we really couldn't see much of them because we were too high up on the ship and deck 9 overhang was too large, blocking most of the fireworks from view. We also had a lot of motion on our cruise, and the wood in the room creaks very badly, especially around the Murphy bed. We could also have used some doorstops, as the doors all around the suite would swing open and closed as the ship rocked. The door to the kids room also needs some grease as it squeaks. There was also a slight odor in the pantry, and one day we had some serious smoke fumes coming in through a vent from the deck above.
But overall, it is an incredible room and I'd sail in it again in a heartbeat! |

Notes: Very convenient to elevators and stairs at mid-ship. We were booked for a category 3 and went on the waiting list and was called 2 months before saildate and upgraded. The room was amazing with plenty of room. Door has doorbell and as you walk in there is a 1/2 bath to your right with storage space across from that.Behind the 1/2 there is a wet bar that we just closed up and used for all the empty luggage.There was a living room with a sofa, 2 chairs, coffeetable, TV, DVD, VCR, and stereo in the living room. On the left side of the living room there was another wet bar with refrigerator. To the left of the livingroom there was a library with sleeper sofa, and a chair, with books and games. Behind the library was the master suite with kingsize bed, vanity table, and two large closets. The master bath has two sinks, shower and a whirlpool tub. To the right of the living room was the dining room with a table that seats eight. Behind the dingroom is another bedroom with two twin beds that can be put together, with a walk-in closet and another full bathroom. The balconey is large with two lounge chairs and two chairs. It did creak a bit at night if we had rough seas, due to the extensive use of wood throughout the room. Also when they cleaned the deck above you could hear them stacking the chairs at night. Great view of Cozumel and Castaway Cay from the verandah.Very convenient location to the pools and plenty of room. I only wish I could book this room for every cruise.If you have any questions you can contact me!!Happy Sailing!!!! |

Notes: While we were THRILLED to have a Disney Suite, I made the silly mistake of assuming that it would be spectacular. The space is wonderful and we truly appreciated all the room, the suite itself left a few bad tastes in our mouth. The first thing was the smell in the master suite. Oh my goodness! It was awful! I immediately sprayed stink spray thinking someone had just used our potty-WRONG! The concierge sent up a plumber, then an engineer, but no success. The contents of the belly of the ship were being stirred up as we started to sail and all the gases were coming in through the vent. The whole master suite smelled. We ended up having to cover the vent with towels to keep the smell to a minimum. The bathroom also had broken fixtures on the sinks. There was a TV missing from the Library and the entertainment center doors had been broken off and not replaced. The living room couch had doodling on it in ball point pen (who would do that?), but all in all, we were Disney's for a week and can get you down when your in the Disney Suite! Having the large deck was great! Going in to port we could sit at a table or relax on the deck chair with our room service coffee and wave at people on the other ships! Having breakfast delivered and sitting at a dining table was lovely! We enjoyed the room immensely! The room was just around the corner from the midship elevators and there was no noise from the hall or from the elevators during our trip. There were several doorbell ditchers (Yes, there are doorbells on the suites!), but we got used to it! The butlers pantry was perfect for storing luggage and all the purchases we made! There was plenty of room and we loved that! Someone could go to bed while others stayed up watching a movie or go out without ever disturbing the rest of us. One of the funny things we didn't realize was that the suite has pocket doors at the library. During the rocky times at sea we would have to block the pocket doors with ottoman to stop the pocket doors from sliding into each other! This only happened coming and going across the Florida Straights, but it made us giggle watching them open and close on their own! The suite was a great experience and the concierge service made it a spectacular trip! |

Notes: It's beautiful. We had 4 adult and 3 kids. The adults took the master and murphy bed rooms and the kids had the second bedroom with the pull down berths. I was worried about the glass doors on the murphy bed room, but it was completely private. There was plenty of clothing storage in the bedrooms and the pantry room off the main hallway was great for storing suitcases. The dining room sat all of us comfortably. The verandah is huge. I would say our only complaint was the noise from people running on deck 9. There very slight wear and tear/water damage in the bathrooms, but everything else was in mint condition. Enjoy! |
