Notes: Really great stateroom, would definitely choose again. We thought it would be a tight squeeze for our family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children) but we had plenty of space. The large porthole with the seat was a really nice feature, and I actually preferred it to a balcony as I didn't have to watch my kids to make sure they weren't doing something silly on the balcony.
Cabin steward was very helpful in putting the beds away each day during breakfast so we had extra space during the day.
It's difficult to find information about the bed setup, so listing it here for future cruisers:
1x queen size bed (sleeps two)
1x sofa bed (sleeps one)
1x drop-down bed from ceiling (sleeps one child)
1x pull-down/murphy bed which pulls down from the cupboard next to the window (sleeps one)
Very quiet at the end of the corridor so hardly any through traffic. Also not a connecting room so no sound bleed through from neighbouring rooms.
Forward stairs & lifts (elevators) are quiet compared to midship which is good. Only slight niggle with the forward stairs is going to deck 11 you would end up at the adult only area. We had three children in our party, so a good tip was to go up to deck 12 instead which is a family area, walk towards the front of the ship and take one of the stairs down once you're in the midship area. I know some just go through with their kids anyway but this really wasn't much extra effort and we like to be considerate. Also good to get some extra steps in with all of the rich food!
Noise - generally very quiet, but when the thrusters are being used (sideways movement), there is a fair amount of vibration. Generally this is only during docking and my kids slept through it fine.
I would definitely avoid room 9500 - although it's the same location on the other side of the ship, it is opposite the laundry and people (mainly Americans!) talked so loudly in there we could hear them from very far away. I would imagine it being very disruptive right outside your room. |

Notes: Excellent cabin, my kids loved laying on the large porthole window bench and looking out the window. No noise issues. Would book again. |

Notes: It wouldn't let me pick the right year. This was 2013. Anyway, this room was GREAT! The kids loved sitting in the window, there was plenty of room for 2 adults and 3 kids, however, I do not recommend it for 4 or 5 bigger people (adult size, I mean). The murphy bed was rock hard. Little kids won't mind, but older ones may. We didn't really hear noise or feel rocking. It was a great room at the end of the hall. Very quiet! |

Notes: This room is as far forward as you can go on deck 9 without being part of the crew. There were four of us, my wife and I with two children (aged 9 and 12). We had plenty of room and storage space and could easily have had a fifth person with us. The room was very quiet. I fealt a lot of ship movement, but no one in the family was bothered by it. We did wear sea bands and take bonine each morning, so that may be why the motion didn't affect us. The room has one of the large window seat portols - a great place to relax and read. Looking up, you could watch the bridge crew whenever they were on the port side of the bridge. In addition to the queen bed, there was a murphy bed and the bunk beds made from the sofa and the pull down from the ceiling. The kids fought over the murphy bed, but they liked the pull down bed as well. When we decided to do some laundry, it was a short walk to the starboard side for the laundry room.
Access to the theaters was easy. The forward elevetors were not as busy as those at midship, but we took the stairs most of the time. It is a farther walk to the main dining rooms, but not unpleasant. We never fealt like we were hurrying to get anywhere.
Access to the spaces on deck 11 were a bit harder if we were with the kids. In order to go to Cabanas and the pool/Aqua Duck area, we had to go to the stairs at midship and go up. Going up the forward stairs meant going through the adults only areas. It seemed an unimportant detail to some, but we didn't want to disturb anyone with our kids even walking through.
We were pleased with the room overall, but we may try somewhere else next time just for kicks. |

Notes: I absolutely LOVED this cabin!! It's all the way forward on the port side of the ship. There are no connecting doors, so no possibility of noise leaking in through a connecting door. The "end" of the hall actually leads to officer cabins, so while there were people coming in and out of that hidden door, they were very quiet and respectful - I never heard them. I fell in love with the porthole window seat and if it had been a couple of inches wider could totally have slept there!
I had considered 9500 for the Castaway Cay view, but opted for 9000 as the other is directly across from the guest laundry. I was briefly in the laundry and found other guests in there conversing rather loudly, so I'm very happy with my choice. (High-ranking officers who you know will be respectful of guests vs. other guests who might not realize how loud they are talking? No choice for me.)
Highly recommend this room!! I'm actually rather sad it's not available for my Fantasy cruise next year!! |
