Disney World Refurbishments & Ride Closings
There is nothing worse than anticipating a specific Disney attraction, and after you arrive, finding out that it will be closed for the duration of your stay.
Below is a complete list of the Walt Disney World rehab and refurbishment schedules that you can expect in the upcoming weeks and months. You can't plan for sudden closings, but you can manage your expectations by referring to the list below before your Disney vacation. Not all "shut downs" are scheduled, and there are countless reasons why an attraction might suddenly close.
Don't get mad at the cast members, it's not their fault. Things at the parks have to be maintained regularly in order to continue working properly.

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square – will close for refurbishment starting January 20, 2025. A reopening date has not been announced.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant in Storybook Circus – the indoor playground will close January 27, 2025 and will reopen in the Spring. The ride will remain open.
Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed permanently on March 17, 2025, to make way for a new Zootopia show which debuts in late 2025.
Hollywood Studios Refurbishments
Disney Springs
- Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – Temporarily unavailable
- Beginning March 3, the West Side Starbucks will be temporarily closed for routine refurbishment and is anticipated to reopen mid-summer. The Marketplace Starbucks will remain open to guests during this time.
ESPN Wide World of Sports
Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Park
- Typhoon Lagoon is temporarily closed for seasonal refurbishment.
- Winter Summerland Mini Golf - The Winter Summerland Winter and Summer Courses will be undergoing refurbishment from April 28 to June 16, 2025. During this time, one of the courses will always remain open, but Guests will be unable to reserve tee times and may visit on a walk-up basis.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Refurbishments
NOTE: Our listings are only for those refurbishments that will likely have an impact on the majority of guests. When it comes to changing out furniture and such in guest rooms, this is fairly routine as Disney is always updating its resorts. Unless it's a full scale remodel, it's considered standard maintenance and is not included in our refurb/rehab schedule.
- Animal Kingdom Villas
Beginning in September, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village will undergo exterior maintenance, with work expected to conclude by late December. These enhancements may impact views from various locations throughout the Resort. During this period, views of the Sunset Savanna from Sanaa may be partially or completely obstructed. Animal viewing will be available from the Savanna Outlook adjacent to the restaurant during daytime hours. Guests are welcome to enjoy these views prior or after their dining experience.

- All-Star Movies
From January 2025 through April 2025, Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this time, guests are welcome to swim in the Duck Pond Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.

- Bay Lake Tower - Disney's Contemporary Resort
From Sept. 2024-Sept. 2025, room refurbishment work will take place in Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. During the refurbishment, Guests will see and hear construction work throughout Bay Lake Tower. Additionally, the Skybridge may experience intermittent closures. Please allow extra time for travel as alternate paths may be utilized.
From January 26, 2026, to early May 2026, the Bay Cove Pool, Bay Cove Water Play Area, and Bay Cove Pool Spa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be closed for maintenance. The Contemporary Feature Pool, Water Play Area, and Spas, and the Bay Lake Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for Guests to enjoy. Guests may see or hear construction until the work is completed in May.
- Beach Club Resort
Walt Disney World has announced that from January 2025 through May 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance. They’ve advised that guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this closure, guests are able to use the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools.
- BoardWalk Resort & Villas
Beginning in September, the Screen Door General Store, Disney’s Character Carnival, and Thimbles & Threads at Disney’s BoardWalk will each undergo refurbishment. While one store is closed for construction, you are welcome to shop at and enjoy the other two stores that are available.
- Caribbean Beach Resort
Beginning February 17, 2025, the lobby at Old Porte Royale at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will undergo refurbishment and is expected to be completed by the end of April. The work will take place in sections, with only one section closed at a time to minimize disruptions. The lobby will remain open during construction. Guests may see and hear construction in the lobby until the work is complete and be ready to assist guests with alternate paths of travel.
Sebastian's Bistro will be closed for a short refurbishment from March 24th through the end of the month.
- Contemporary Resort
From Sept. 2024 - Sept. 2025, room refurbishment work will take place in Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. During the refurbishment, Guests will see and hear construction work throughout Bay Lake Tower. Additionally, the Skybridge may experience intermittent closures. Please allow extra time for travel as alternate paths may be utilized.
- Coronado Springs Resort
- Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
From January 6, 2025, through the end of May 2025, a new Disney Vacation Club sales office will be constructed near Pioneer Hall. During this time, the Settlement Depot Bus Stop will be temporarily relocated to the parking lot across from Tri-Circle-D Ranch. All activities and entertainment, including carriage rides and hayrides, will remain open. Please be prepared to use alternate paths of travel. Guests may see and hear construction work during this time.
- Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is currently undergoing refurbishment. Guests will be able to see and hear construction around the resort – including the lobby – during daytime hours. Most Resort hotel amenities will remain available. Please allow for extra travel time.
- Old Key West
From February 10, 2025 to early April 2025, the Sassagoula shoreline at Old Key West will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, there will be no boat transportation provided from Old Key West to Disney Springs. Resort buses will be available for transportation to and from Disney Springs during the duration of this project.
- Polynesian Village Resort, Bungalows, & DVC Tower
- Pop Century Resort
From late March 2025 to mid-February 2026, guest rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort will undergo refurbishment. While all resort amenities will remain available, you may notice construction during daytime hours.
- Port Orleans French Quarter
From May 2024 through spring 2025, some guest rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter will be under refurbishment. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. Most Resort hotel amenities will remain available.
- Port Orleans Riverside
From early April 2025 through the end of January 2026, guest rooms in the Magnolia Bend at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will undergo refurbishment. During this time, guests may see or hear construction work in the area.
- Riviera Resort

- Saratoga Springs
- Wilderness Lodge, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
From mid-May 2025 to September 2025, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo refurbishment. While all Resort amenities will remain available, you may notice refurbishment work during daytime hours.
From May 12 through May 21, Whispering Canyon Café at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will close for planned maintenance. All other food locations, including the Territory Lounge, Roaring Forks, Geyser Point Bar & Grill, and Story Book Dining at Artist Pointe, will remain open.
- Yacht Club Resort

- DARK: This term is used when a performance of a stage show is not scheduled
