ARTICLE: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – An Imagineering Love Letter to New Orleans
When this completely reimagined attraction opens this summer, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will feature dozens of animatronics. Disney says we should keep our eyes out for Princess Tiana, Louis, Mama Odie, Eudora, Charlotte, Prince Ralphie, and Prince Naveen. Guests will float through the cypress trees and Spanish moss of the Louisiana Bayou and toes will be tapping thanks to the adorable critters who sing and play instruments made from natural materials found in the bayou. The critters include an otter, rabbit, raccoon, beaver, turtle, and more. These critters will turn the bayou into a party with zydeco and other types of authentic New Orleans music.
Take a look at some of the animatronics that we'll see in the attraction – they're stunning!
In addition to seeing friends from The Princess and the Frog with incredible new audio-animatronics, there are a whole slew of critters that guests will see as they float through the attraction. You can learn more about each of the critters and their stories in the articles linked below.
The setting for the new attraction takes place in 1927. Tiana is hosting a party for the people of New Orleans, but they are missing something and set out to meet some new friends. The new theme will take on scenes from Disney's Princess and the Frog film and will pick up the story "after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance."
The image below offers a look at another upcoming scene and some of the brand-new characters that have been created specifically for this attraction. In Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, guests will join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis during carnival season as they’re getting ready to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans. This new scene is the thrilling moment you first drop into the bayou, where friends, both new and familiar, will be able to be seen.
Mama Odie will be part of the attraction on both coasts and will be voiced by Jennifer Lewis – the original voice actress for the beloved character! As depicted in the newly released rendering above, Mama Odie jokes with guests along their journey after a special display of her magic. The two-hundred-year-old Bayou Fairy Godmother, with her eccentric belongings and ‘seeing eye snake,’ Juju, is comically eccentric, yet wise and all knowing, throughout the adventure.
Guests will get to meet critters, big and small, throughout the attraction, and Disney says some really are … big, with an even bigger personality.
