World Discovery Attractions

World Discovery Overview

World Discovery is the EPCOT neighborhood where science, technology, space travel, motion, innovation, and intergalactic adventure come to life. This area is home to some of EPCOT’s biggest thrill attractions, including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Mission: SPACE, and Test Track presented by General Motors.

The overall theme of World Discovery is exploration. Guests can blast across the galaxy with the Guardians of the Galaxy, train for a space mission, experience the future of mobility, dine 220 miles above Earth, and explore stories connected to technology, transportation, and space.

World Discovery is one of the best areas of EPCOT for guests looking for high-energy attractions. Families with younger children should check height requirements before planning their day, as the main rides in this neighborhood have minimum height restrictions.

World Discovery Attractions
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: A high-energy indoor storytelling coaster featuring a reverse launch and rotating ride vehicles.
  • Test Track presented by General Motors: A reimagined attraction focused on the future of mobility and automotive innovation.
  • Mission: SPACE: A spaceflight simulator offering two experiences: a more intense mission to Mars and a gentler orbit around Earth.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is EPCOT’s first “other-world” showcase pavilion and one of the park’s most popular attractions. The adventure begins in the Galaxarium, a planetarium-style exhibition where guests learn about Xandar, Earth, and the connections between the two worlds before the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive and the story launches across the cosmos.

The attraction features a storytelling coaster system from Walt Disney Imagineering, with ride vehicles that rotate to focus guests on the action. It also includes the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster and is one of the largest fully enclosed coasters in the world. This is a family-thrill attraction, but guests should be aware that it includes fast motion, spinning, darkness, screens, music, and coaster elements.

Height requirement: 42 inches or taller.

Test Track presented by General Motors

Test Track presented by General Motors is a reimagined EPCOT attraction that takes guests on an exhilarating ride into the future of mobility. This attraction celebrates automotive design, transportation technology, and the way innovation continues to shape how people move through the world.

Test Track is one of EPCOT’s signature thrill rides and is a good choice for guests who enjoy speed, vehicle design, and technology. Because it is a popular attraction, guests should check current wait times, Lightning Lane availability, and operating status in the My Disney Experience app.

Height requirement: 40 inches or taller.

Mission: SPACE

Mission: SPACE is a spaceflight simulator that lets guests experience a NASA-style mission. The attraction offers two versions: the Orange Mission, which is a more intense simulated mission to Mars, and the Green Mission, which is a less intense orbit around Earth.

Mission: SPACE can be intense, especially the Orange Mission. Guests who are prone to motion sickness, claustrophobia, dizziness, or discomfort with enclosed simulator spaces may want to choose the Green Mission or skip the attraction. Guests should review all posted warnings before riding.

Height requirement: 40 inches or taller.

World Discovery Dining

In an expansion of the Mission: SPACE pavilion, Space 220 Restaurant offers a dining experience designed to make guests feel as if they have traveled 220 miles above Earth. The journey begins with a simulated space elevator ride to the Centauri Space Station, followed by lunch or dinner with views of Earth from space.

Space 220 is one of EPCOT’s most unique dining experiences. The restaurant offers prix fixe meals, while Space 220 Lounge offers a more casual setting with lounge-style food and drinks. Advance dining reservations are strongly recommended for the restaurant, and lounge availability can be limited.

Guests looking for a lighter dining option may also consider nearby quick-service locations outside World Discovery, including Connections Eatery and other EPCOT dining locations within a short walk.
